top officials climbs higher. tonight, tracking taxpayer money. the overtime cost racked up an executive protection of the city's top officials. >> despite yearly budget deficits, those costs continue to go up. jane bode miller has more on what she has uncovered. -- jayne miller has more on what she has uncovered. >> former mayor stephanie rawlings lake has quite the entourage as she travels around. she is protected wherever she goes by city police officers whose sole duty is to provide the mayor with executive protection. it all comes with the cost. for the last fiscal year, over time alone was $103,765. that was substantially higher than the overtime cost for fiscal year 2011, which came in at $69,823.

one big reason, the unit got bigger. it grew from six officers the previous year to seven officers now. they also travel with her out of town. that added another $7,700 in the last fiscal year. take that plus overtime cost plus minimal series of the officers, and it is enough to cover the starting salaries of 10 police officers. executive protection is provided to the police commissioner, even though the commissioner carries a gun. two officers assigned to protect outgoing commissioner fred bealefeld made thousands and overtime last year. $38,987 last year. today we saw them driving bernstein at lunch. >> by comparison, neither the baltimore county state's
